What is an HRV??
No one likes to walk into the kitchen in the morning and get nice big nose full of dinner from the night before! An HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) is a unit that ties into the HVAC (Ventilation/Heat/Cooling) system of the home to exhaust stale air and bring fresh air into your home. Not only does this help get rid of stale food smells and other odors but it keeps the home safe and healthy. It also moves the air through a filter which helps take dust and allergens out of the air for sensitive inhabitants. This is a necessary piece of equipment in the new age of “tight and energy efficient homes.”
Some of you might be wondering, “why don’t you just open a window?” An HRV expels the stale air from the home but crosses the stale (WARM) air with the fresh air to preheat the fresh air coming into the home. This way your home is constantly getting fresh exterior air that is pre heated!!
Not only does this keep the inhabitants of the home more comfortable but keeps them healthy!
